Craegmoor's Ashridge in Lincolnshire, holds Graduation to celebrate achievements

Craegmoor’s Ashridge, which supports adults with learning disabilities has helped a group of 14 residents in achieving their ambition to gain nationally recognised educational qualifications.

To celebrate what the adult learners have accomplished, a special ‘graduation’ ceremony has been held at Ashridge in Tower Road, Boston, with the town’s Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Goodale attending as guest of honour.

The learners, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, have been rewarded with nationally recognised certificates in Life Skills after completing a course, run by training provider, EDAS, through Grimsby College.

Jackalynne Shields, Ashridge Manager, said: “A core part of the care we provide is enabling residents to achieve positive outcomes in their lives.

“The Ashridge ‘graduates’ have all gained a great deal from the experience and have increased in confidence thanks to taking the course, which included lessons on English, maths and community skills.

“Everyone at Ashridge is very proud of their achievements and we wanted to recognise their success in an extra special way and so we erected a marquee in our beautiful gardens to hold a ‘graduation’ event.

“Craegmoor aims to provide activities that either match interests and hobbies of those we support or help extend their life experiences and skills. Supporting our residents through this education course is a prime example of our philosophy of care and support.”

Those who were honoured at the ‘graduation’, which also was attended by family and friends, comprised Yvonne Brooks, Paul Bosak, Andrew Lefley, Sara-Jane Skennerton, Valerie Stimpson, Mark Harris, Paul Chambers, Philip Hodgkinson, Evelyn Wright, Fleur Howard, Susan Patrick, Carol Scott, Andrew Hallam, and Paul Langford

The marquee was erected in the extensive gardens at the home, which provides a high quality, homely environment for 18 residents supported by 20 members of staff.
