UKAF welcomes autism strategy

The government's strategy for supporting adults in the UK with learning disabilities has been commended by one charity dealing with autism.

More Job Centre staff will be given training in how to help people with the condition, thanks to the new proposals, which will give sufferers a greater chance of finding employment and has been praised by the UK Autism Foundation (UKAF).

According to efd.org.uk, the charity is pleased that the strategy will also make public buildings more accessible to those with autism and offer assistance to those deemed "invisible and marginalised" because of their condition.

A spokesperson for UKAF said: "We have been calling for a strategy for several years and we welcome what is definitely a step in the right direction - where autism is concerned."

The National Autistic Society also recently welcomed the strategy, adding that it deals with a number of key areas the charity has been calling for action on.
