Cambridgeshire gets autism council post
Adults with autism and their families living in East Anglia are to receive more support thanks to the unveiling of a new position within Cambridgeshire County Council.
The local authority has teamed up with charities Red2Green and the National Autistic Society to create the development worker position, which will provide extra services to those with the syndrome.
According to the BBC, the successful applicant for the position will also help to raise of awareness of autism in the region, as well as aid those suffering with the condition to take more control over their lives.
Jean Clark, commissioning manager for the council, told the news provider: "The development worker post we have funded will be key to identifying the level of need in the county and planning improvements for adults with autism."
The National Autistic Society recently welcomed the government's announcement of its adult autism strategy for England, which will deal with a number of key areas the charity has been calling for action on.
