The aim of Craegmoor Colleges

“Enabling young people to develop the confidence and skills they need for the next stage in their lives”.

Each learner has an individual learning programme or plan (ILP) based on their own needs and aspirations which will include any or all of the following:

  • Personal and social development
  • Emotional and behavioural development
  • Independent living skills
  • Practical and vocational skills
  • Work and employability skills including work experience
  • Leisure interests and skills

All learners will have the opportunity to achieve appropriate nationally recognised qualifications in their preferred subject areas.

Most learning is based in real life and work settings to give learners the opportunity to learn the skills they need. The college learning environments are very flexible and adaptable to support specific individual learning needs.

Each learner receives the appropriate support they need to develop and achieve their goals. This includes one to one support and specialist support through a multidisciplinary team of Community Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Advocates where needed.

Learners are encouraged to develop self confidence to build and maintain relationships and friendships. Although learners access formal taught lessons, it’s the real life ‘learning through living’ experiences, reinforced in the residential setting through the extended curriculum, that makes a vital contribution to each learner’s progress and achievements.
