Southbank care home in Bowdon, Altrincham, celebrated the expansion of its services and accommodation with an open day for the local community. The home, operated by Craegmoor, provides residential and nursing care to older people and young adults with learning disabilities and mental illnesses.
The open day, which will feature a barbeque, raffle with signed Altrincham FC shirts, music from DJ, Paul Doran, and a range of stalls, will be presided over by the Deputy Mayor of Trafford, Ken Weston, who will speak of Southbank’s continued desire to be at the heart of the community and deliver care to those who need support well into the future.
The expansion of the home will see all 58 individuals move into more spacious bedrooms and living accommodation. The additional space will also further improve the standards of care and facilities offered to young people with learning disabilities. A large lounge for young disabled people will provide easy access for specialist wheelchairs and equipment so people can move around with greater ease and have more independence. A new activities room will broaden the number of different activities on offer, be it arts and crafts, bingo, or quizzes.
Ted Smith, Craegmoor’s Chief Executive Officer, said today:
“ The expansion of Southbank care home is indicative of Craegmoor’s commitment to providing the highest quality care and support that is focused on the needs of the individual.
Open days such as these not only provide a great opportunity to present Craegmoor’s new services to existing service users and their friends and families, but also to the local community at large, allowing them to ask any questions they might have about our services and find out more about the work that we do .”
