Luton’s Cherrywood House Supported Living Unit, of Dunstable Road, Luton Beds, which provides services for people with mental illnesses to help them return to life within the community, hosted an afternoon of fun for the local area on Friday 3rd July.
Operated by Craegmoor – the leading national provider of care and support services to people with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, mental illnesses and older people – Cherrywood House invited local people to come and take part in a range of activities including games, a barbeque, live music, painting and a raffle.
The open day took place between 12.00pm and 4.00pm, and featured a range of stalls as well as an information desk providing further details about the work that goes on at Cherrywood House and across Craegmoor’s services.
Kathy Maclean, Manager of Cherrywood House, said today:
“ We are very pleased that we already enjoy great relations with the local community and we are grateful for everyone’s ongoing support. We are keen to deepen our engagement with the local community and so we wanted to invite people to Cherrywood House so that they can gain more of an insight into how our specialist housing and support is provided, as well as meet the people who live here .”
Ted Smith, Craegmoor’s Chief Executive Officer, said today:
“ Craegmoor has been working hard to increase public awareness and understanding of mental illnesses and reduce some of the stigma that often surrounds them. This is precisely why we hold open days such as the one at Cherrywood House and we want all local communities to feel able to ask us any questions that they have and above all, for us to be good neighbours! ”
